When someone asks me, ‘Hey, wanna try out one of our new improved vibrators?’, I always say yes. Emotional Bliss has just redesigned their line of vibrators, making them harder, better, faster, stronger! Well… okay, not quite, but I couldn’t resist the notion of Daft Punk vibrators. What Emotional Bliss did do was make them better and stronger, and hotter. I haven’t tried any of their older, non-heated products, but I have tried many other kinds of vibrators that don’t heat up (not on purpose, anyway).

I chose the Femblossom because it’s likely the strangest shaped vibrator I’ve ever encountered that was shaped for a specific usable purpose. Let’s get it out there, it looks like a manta ray. The manta ray of loooove. The design is such that it’s intended to stimulate the vulva as well as the clit. It achieves this goal, at least in my experience, very well. It heats up in accordance with the speed it’s going. The highest setting will be hottest (but not too hot). They say that the heat helps you achieve “hotter orgasms,” and I laughed that off thinking it was ad-hype. Hahaha, no. To those of you who wonder if I lie in my reviews and pretend to like things more than I really do, or whatnot, I want to say now that I don’t lie. I really did not think I was going to like the heat feature. I thought it would be too hot, or that the heat just wouldn’t be my thing, or that the Emotional Bliss people were downright weird for making a heated vibrator. I’m so glad to tell you kind folks that I was dead wrong. I found that the heat actually increased blood flow down there and I was getting more hot and bothered. Excellent. Party on, Garth.

In all seriousness, I’ve come to realize that sex toys, generally speaking, are cold. All the other vibrators I’ve used and tried, and especially all the dildos, have been cold. Many dildos work well for temperature play. You can soak a dildo in warm water to heat it up, which is something I never cared to do because I thought heated sex toys were wacky, but then they stay around the temperature of your body which feels neutral. The only time a vibrator ever got hot was the Hitachi overheating after I’d been going at it for a half hour (yes, I am still alive after marathon sessions with the Hitachi). Sex toys are normally cold, and I think that might be part of what informs some people’s preference for hands over toys, or a penis over a dildo (if penis is your thing… I know, I know, don’t jump on me, but it’s the body part akin to a dildo). Body parts are warm. People prefer things that feel warm and realistic. While the Femblossom does not feel like a hand or a finger or anything human, it’s warmth is incredibly comforting and arousing.

The vibrations are actually medium to strong. What I am saying here is that unless you need a Hitachi to blow you into the stratosphere, this will get you off. Know what else is awesome? The controls are perfect. Perfect, I tell you. They’re on the wide part, where your hand is not, so you don’t accidentally turn it off. Scha-wing, batter! The handle is button-free and usable for moving it, and you don’t actually have to move it all that much. I found that I liked rubbing the tip against my clit as much as I liked rubbing it against the opening of my vagina, letting the swell of it rub where it landed. I also have been liking positioning it just so, tucking a pillow between my legs, and laying on my side and just squeezing my thighs against the pillow. This vibrator is an experience, a ride, something to be savored, and I really enjoy using it on frigid July nights when I can barely stand the thought of braving the cold and taking off my underpants to rub the bean (I’ll be using a different quasi-innocent masturbation reference in each review from now on. You can thank me later). Yes, cold July nights. If you are near Central New York this year, you will know what I mean.

The Femblossom, as well as the other vibrators offered by Emotional Bliss, all have an anti-bacterial agent that I was very skeptical of until I read more about it. What it is, is silver ions that degrade, a layer at a time, when rinsed and wet. So when you’re done, rinse the toy, the top layer degrades – a reaction of the silver ions with the water – and it sloughs off microscopically, and it’s sanitized again because it’s technically a new surface. Voila. Very cool. My one criticism of the Femblossom is that it’s made from two pieces that have a join together and where the join is there’s a groove that is somewhat difficult to clean. This can be accomplished, however, by running warm water over the usable part (NOT the plug) and using a wash cloth to clean the groove.

Each Femblossom comes in a nice blue cardboard box with an insert to fit into grooves in the box to make a compartment for the vibe and the charger. The vibrator also comes with a small vial of their lube, and the bottle is totally amazing! It’s my absolute utter favorite sample lube bottle ever. It looks like a little pill, or almost like a little test tube and has a pump top that’s sooo easy to use. I think when it’s empty I’m going to wash it out and save it and refill it. It’s just THAT cute.

So, what’s the verdict? I really love the Femblossom. Some toys I don’t use too much after I review them, but I keep coming back to the Femblossom over and over again because of the heat, because of the shape, and because the vibration is enough to get me off but not so strong that it prevents me from having a relaxed, comfortable time with myself. I love the Femblossom. Check it out at Emotional Bliss, and if this shape isn’t for you, they also have a Womolia with heat, shaped a little more traditionally, in addition to two smaller finger vibrators!
